Danielson Township

The first person arrived in Danielson Township in 1857, but it wasn't until 1861 when others arrived, and the area began to develop. Danielson Township was formally organized as a Meeker County township in March 1872. It was named for Daniel Danielson and Nils Danielson. Daniel was the first township clerk and assessor; Nils had been a homesteader since 1861. The settlement of Rosendale was started in this township.  The Danielson Creamery was built there in 1890, and it was the second creamery built in Minnesota. A “buttermaker” was brought from Denmark to run the creamery and teach the technique to local citizens.
