Colonel William Colvill was known to his fellow Minnesotans after the Civil War as a true HERO, as a hero of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Times change as years and decades pass---Colvill is not so well-remembered in our era. If you know of him, you might be from Red Wing, or you might know his statue in the State Capitol. Colvill seems to be a distant hero made of solid bronze, just a statue, yet he was more than shiny-metal, he was a real man of flesh and blood.
